30 Nov 2008: Swinsty Reservoir can get cold. The feeder dam shown was covered in about 2 inches of ice in places, and it made that peculiar humming noise when something was thrown across it.

16 Nov 2008: The limestone pavement above Conistone Dip is an interesting piece of geology where the horizontal bedding plane has been eroded along the jointing. The smoothed cracks (grikes) can be a couple of feet deep and inside live a variety of plants, some of which look almost temperate with soft leaves. This pavement features in one of the Wuthering Heights movies.
