Buffelsdrift is a family-owned private game farm. For safety, legal, ecological and neighbourly reasons, guests are kindly asked to please adhere to a few terms and conditions.

Visitor rules

  • Visitors must pre-book. Entrance through the gate must be pre-arranged.
  • There may be other visitors at Buffeldrift. Please respect their peace and privacy and that of the farm neighbours.
  • Wild animals, birds, insects and other creatures have right of way. They should also be treated with respect and not approached or cornered.
  • Do not feed or tease monkeys and baboons.
  • Guns, crossbows, offensive weapons and fireworks are not allowed.
  • Killing of birds and animals is strictly prohibited.
  • Do not pick flowers, chop trees, trample plants or collect fireword. The ecosystem and its inhabitants rely on each other, and the diversity on the farm is important to everyone.
  • Please do not attempt any maintenance of the electricity, gas and water systems. We will happily assist if there is a problem.
  • There is a 20kph speed limit on the farm.
  • Loud music and substance abuse will not be allowed.

  • Visitor recommendations

The following recommendations may make your stay more pleasant:

  • The farm is located in a malaria free area of the Bushveld, but mosquitos and flies can be a nuisance and cause skin irritation. A repellant will deter most flying insects, particularly at night.
  • Ticks are present throughout Africa. A repellant will deter ticks, but visitors are advised to check for ticks and remove them.
  • There are snakes, scorpions and other stinging creatures on the farm. For your safety do not approach or handle these creatures whenever possible.
  • There are large wild animals on the farm, and they should be treated with respect and not approached or cornered.
  • Food should be locked away and interesting objects like cameras and keys should not be left lying around. Monkeys and baboons are notorious thieves.
  • The Bushveld can be very hot and dusty. Please ensure you have enough water so as to not dehydrate. The Voorwaarts shop stocks cooldrink, water, alcohol, basic foodstuffs and groceries, fuel and gas.
  • Please do not pick flowers, chop trees, trample plants or collect fireword. The ecosystem and its inhabitants rely on each other, and the diversity on the farm is important to everyone.
  • We do not recommend bringing pets to the farm.
  • Water and electricity are precious resources in Africa, and our systems are designed to be sustainable and are therefore limited.
  • When you leave please turn off the gas cylinder and take your refuse bag.

  • Indemnity

Visitors are courteously reminded that the bushveld has wild animals, crocodiles, hippos, monkeys, baboons, snakes, wasps, bees, old Land Rovers, rickety bridges and things we have not thought of. We cannot accept liability for you or your property.
